Ketosis In Full Effect!!

Feel the Rush… I am in Ketosis!! What the heck is Ketosis? Will get to that in a bit. I just got back from The Vitamin Shop where I purchased Ketone Test Strips. I also subsequently just got back from the bathroom where I used a strip to measure my level of ketones in the body (by way of my urine). I am currently operating in the optimal ketosis zone for this particular product.

What is Ketosis?

Ketosis is a normal process that happens when your body doesn't have enough carbs to burn for energy. Instead, it burns fat and makes substances called ketones, which it can use for fuel.

etosis is a popular weight loss strategy. Low-carb eating plans include the first part of the Atkins diet and the Paleo diet, which stress proteins for fueling your body. In addition to helping you burn fat, ketosis can make you feel less hungry. It also helps you maintain muscle.

For healthy people who don't have diabetes and aren't pregnant, ketosis usually kicks in after 3 or 4 days of eating less than 50 grams of carbohydrates per day. That's about 3 slices of bread, a cup of low-fat fruit yogurt, or two small bananas. You can start ketosis by fasting, too.

So I will be on this Keto adventure at least until the end of February. The goal of which is to see how it impacts my body and to lean out prior to photos for another body contest!
